Why Aluminum?

  • A material that is light in weight and highly stable. The density of aluminum is approximately 1/3rd the density of steel. Despite its low weight, aluminum features very high strength characteristics.
  • Resistant to impact and very strong. The surface may be dented by impact but the impact energy is absorbed by the distortion.
  • Not sensitive to extreme fluctuations in temperature. In the temperature range of -238 to +302 F the material characteristics remain constant.
  • Impervious to water vapor. Even under extremely long-term storage conditions, it is impossible for moisture to penetrate the material. By means of welding it is possible to fabricate an aluminum container so that it is resistant to water vapor.
  • Magnetically neutral. Aluminum is free from ferro-magnetism. This material characteristic may assume major importance in certain areas of application.
  • Fully recyclable. Old aluminum can be melted down and re-used - a positive contribution towards relieving the burden of waste disposal and protecting the environment.
  • Resistant to corrosion and has a built-in defensive response. On contact with oxygen the surface develops an oxide layer which is reinstated immediately if damage occurs.
  • Hygienic. The smooth surface is easy to clean and neutral in terms of odor. Aluminum containers are eminently suitable for areas where hygiene is a primary requirement.
  • Aluminum conducts electricity. Aluminum is a good conductor of electricity and heat, an advantage with rackmount cases for electronic installations.
  • Resistant to UV radiation. Long storage periods and use under exposure to UV rays have no effect on this material.
  • Lends itself to machining in a number of different ways. All the standard machining processes - welding, moulding, etc. - can be applied to aluminum and can be carried out very much more cost-efficiently than is the case with other metals.

FOAM

Foam Lining  is available for K470 case models.  It is a durable, abrasion-resistant lining made from PE foam.  Floor and wall sections are made from Plastazote LD 45, 2.8 lbs per cubic foot, 11mm thickness (0.45 inch), lid is fitted with raised finish PU foam, self-adhesive equipped.
